CARY, N.C. – Around 2,000 students at Green Hope High School in Cary staged a walk-out at noon Wednesday.

It was part of an effort to demand an end to gun violence in schools.

The demonstration was a show of support for the 17 people who lost their lives during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on Feb. 14.

Two Green Hope Students who previously attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas spoke about how the tragedy has affected them personally.

Students we spoke with said they hope to influence change in an effective manner.

The school system approved of the scheduled protest, and students were back in class by the afternoon.
