RALEIGH – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver in Raleigh Tuesday evening.

Ollie Merritt was hit at about 6:20 p.m. as he crossed the northbound lanes of the 3400 block of Capital Boulevard just south of Old Buffalo Road.

Police say Merritt was crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk during heavy traffic.

The driver of the car was not injured.
