CARTHAGE, N.C. -- An assisted living facility in Carthage is under investigation after a former employee shared a video of what appears to be an unconscious co-worker on social media.

Authorities say the investigation into Tara Plantation all started after a former nursing assistant shared the video which has since gone viral.

The female in the video is seen slumped over a chair with her head between her knees. A pharmacy bag is also visible in the background of the video.

The person who shared the video, Stephanie Alston, posted on her Facebook page saying she and another employee were fired from Tara Plantation after taking the video.

Alston says she was wrongfully terminated and posted the video on online.

In a Facebook post, Alston says she's only trying to protect the residents who were in danger.

The video’s posting has ignited an investigation involving Tara Plantation, the Department of Social Services, the Carthage Police Department and the State Division of Health and Human Resources.
