DURHAM – Police in Durham are investigating a fatal accident involving a motorcycle.

It happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday on N.C. Highway 55 near Interstate 40.

Police say 44-year-old Benjamin Brandenburg was traveling northbound in a transit van.

Brandenburg was attempting to make a left turn onto Interstate 40 eastbound but collided with a motorcycle operated by 33-year-old Johnathan Oneal.         

Oneal was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.         

Brandenburg was treated at the scene and cited for misdemeanor death by vehicle.
