CHARLOTTE -- Carolina Panthers interim General Manager Marty Hurney was placed on paid administrative leave Tuesday, as the NFL investigates harassment claims made by his ex-wife.

In court documents filed last week by his ex-wife Jeanne Hurney, she says she truly fears for her life after "Martin or his proxies" allegedly removed items from her classroom and home.

Later in January, Jeanne Hurney said she found sticky notes in the pages of one of her books with words like "victim" and "terrorize" highlighted.

She later dismissed the complaint, but the NFL says it will continue to investigate Marty Hurney despite the complaint being withdrawn.

This all comes on the heels of December's announcement surrounding team owner Jerry Richardson. He's under investigation for workplace misconduct.

Richardson has since put the team up for sale.

In the Hurney matter, the NFL released a statement saying quote "the club advised the league of the matter in a timely fashion, and it is being reviewed under the personal conduct policy."

He is now on paid leave.

Hurney became the interim GM for the Panthers at the start of training camp in 2017, after Dave Gettleman was fired by the team.

Hurney has interviewed to become the permanent GM, and if hired, would begin his second stint in that role with the Panthers.
