WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --  Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools plan to make changes after a fight broke out at a basketball game last week.

Officials say Carver High School and Winston-Salem Preparatory cheerleaders will not support their teams from the sidelines for the rest of the season.

They say the cheer squads started the fight at the schools' matchup at Carver. The school district is looking at ways to prevent similar situations in the future.

"Thanks to these videos, you have a real life example of something that happened, and how can you take that to make sure we we’re doing the best job possible to make sure events like this don't happen again," chief program officer Brent Campbell said.

District-wide, cheerleaders can no longer approach the other team's sideline or space and chants must be positive, reflecting the district's core values.
