RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Raleigh Fire Department is investigating an early Sunday morning apartment fire that killed one person.

It happened at The Summit at Avent Ferry around 7:30 a.m.

Police blocked off the apartment building where the fire happened until early Sunday afternoon.

The cause of the fire has not been released, but we do know one male was found dead inside one of the apartments.

Some residents say they knew something tragic happened when they saw all the activity.

The fire was contained to one unit and the name of the man who died has not been released.
