HOPE MILLS -- A church youth director in Cumberland County is behind bars after confessing to deputies that he'd inappropriately touched a child at a sleepover.

According to authorities, Nashimen McKinnon, 30, called the Sheriff's office and requested a deputy because he had “touched a child five to six months ago at a sleepover”.

Deputies went to McKinnon’s home in Hope Mills, as requested, and completed a report for the incident.

During the interview McKinnon explained he was the youth leader at Antioch Bible Fellowship, and that he hosted a sleep over at his home in July 2017 for youth members in his church.

McKinnon said, during the sleepover, he laid beside a minor victim on the floor and touched her breasts and buttocks on top of her clothing. He did not know whether the victim was aware of what he was doing.

McKinnon also stated that he sent the victim inappropriate text messages in December 20017.

Detectives charged McKinnon with three counts of Indecent Liberties with Child. McKinnon turned himself in at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he received a $45,0000 secured bond. McKinnon’s first appearance is set for Jan 12.
