Don't put away your coats and sweaters.  It is about to get colder across North Carolina.

A cold front will move across the state Tuesday ushering in some of the coldest air so far this season for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.  Temperatures will drop to the 20s over most of the state during that time with the teens likely in the foothills and mountains.

The temperature will only be part of the story Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.  It will be breezy as the cold air rushes into the state.  That, of course, will make it feel even colder.  Wind chills will drop to the teens from the Piedmont to the coast.  In the northern mountains around Boone, the wind chill could be as cold as -10.

The only precipitation with this week's cold blast will fall in the mountains.  Snow showers are expected Tuesday around the higher elevations.  Less than an inch accumulation is expected around Boone.
