ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- The FBI and local law enforcement announced Saturday afternoon that they are investigating Mariah Woods’ disappearance as a homicide.

During the press conference, FBI Supervisor Stanley Meador said it was too late to save her by the time the 911 call came in Monday.

The FBI and Onslow County Sheriff's Department announced the arrest of 32-year-old Earl Kimrey overnight.

Neighbors say Kimrey is Woods' mom's, Kristy Woods, live-in boyfriend.

The arrest warrant says Kimrey is charged with concealing death, obstruction of justice, second degree burglary, felony larceny and posession of stolen property.

Though Mariah has not been found, officials say evidence gathered during the investigation indicates she may be dead. The warrant says Kimrey is accused removing Woods' body from the scene of her death and concealed her body knowing she died from unnatural causes. The search is now a recovery effort, and has been extended to Pender County.

Mariah was last seen Sunday night when her mom said she put Mariah to bed in their home on Dawson Cabin Road.

Her mom says Mariah woke up in the middle of the night and her boyfriend told her to go back to sleep. By the next morning, Mariah was missing.

Additional charges could be filed against Kimrey as the investigation continues.

Officials say there will not be another volunteer search for Woods. The community is asked to send in surveillance footage from Highway 53, Shaw Highway, and Highway 17 near Southwest Creek if they have any.
