FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A Fayetteville teen is behind bars after assaulting his girlfriend and killing her puppy.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, 18-year-old Antonio Hollywood Campbell choked his girlfriend, Jordan Stephens, during a fight on Friday, and then dragged her puppy behind a moving car before decapitating it with a hatchet.

Stevens says the incident began with a fight at Campbell's house in the 1500 block of Gillespie Street.

Campbell allegedly accused Stevens of talking to other men and proceeded to choke her.

Stevens went to the hospital with neck pain, but is expected to be OK.

According to the sheriff, this was not the first time Campbell abused and threatened the dog.

Campbell has been charged with domestic violence, felony strangulation, cruelty to animals and possession of a weapon of mass destruction.
