WAKE COUNTY -- Wake County is looking for help in making the holidays special for families in need.

The Holiday Cheer Program connects families with sponsors who will provide food and gifts during the Christmas season.

The county is looking to help 800 families this year, and they believe community members will help them reach their goal.

"One of the ways that holiday cheer is unique is that families actually get to meet each other, talk to each other and really to have that face time that they may not have with other programs," said Denise Kissel, resource development specialist.

Last year more than 1,200 children and 700 adults were helped through the program.
