NORTH CAROLINA -- A large crowd gathered in Vance County Friday night for a memorial walk honoring 21-year-old Ahmad Campbell.

Campbell lost his life when a shooting occurred at a party near the campus of N.C. A&T State University last October.

He was one of two students killed in the incident.

Campbell's family and friends attended the walk Friday night to honor his memory.

The walk happened at Southern Vance High School, Campbell's alma mater.

Alicia Campbell, Ahmad's mother, was in attendance. "I have days that are not good," said Miss Campbell. "I have days, y'all may see Miss Campbell smiling, but the pain inside, I could never explain to any of you."

The family is selling bracelets for a scholarship fund in Campbell's honor.

Campbell was studying agriculture and environmental systems.
