FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Closing arguments at the sentencing of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl have been made, and now military Judge Jeffrey Nance deliberates his sentencing for desertion and misbehavior before the enemy in Afghanistan.

Prosecutors asked the judge for a 14-year sentence, and Bergdahl's defense team asked for no confinement but a dishonorable discharge.

The prosecution argued that the consequences of Bergdahl's choices resulted in hundreds of service members risking their lives, referring to witnesses who testified about severe injuries they received while searching for him.

Bergdahl's defense, however, said their client left his post with good intentions, to report issues he saw within his unit. The team also said Bergdahl has owned up to his decision and pleaded guilty.

There's no timeframe for when Judge Nance will decide on sentencing.

Bergdahl could spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to the charges.
