RANDOLPH COUNTY -- A retirement facility in Randolph County is working to address two cases of Legionnaires disease.

A former resident and current one at the Cross Road Retirement Community tested positive for the bacteria.

Staff shut the water off Saturday at both of its assisted living facilities.

The facility is now working with the health department and an outside consultant to investigate the possible origin.

"We ordered water from outside sources in the big, tank bottle water containers. So we have plenty of water for cooking and for residents to stay hydrated."

The legionella bacteria is naturally found in fresh water environments.

The disease does not transmit between human to human contact but through airborne droplets of contaminated water.
