Some of the first cool days of the fall season are often felt during the North Carolina State Fair. That is certainly not the case as this year's fair opens Thursday afternoon. High temperatures will return to the low and mid 80s across central North Carolina.

There's just a 30 percent chance for showers for the first day of the fair.  Otherwise, most of Thursday will be mostly cloudy.

Fog and light drizzle could develop around the region late Thursday night into Friday morning.  There's only a slight chance for measurable rain during the day Friday though.

A brief cool down will bring highs back to the 70s Friday afternoon, but the low and mid 80s will return for Saturday and Sunday. Dry weather is expected through the weekend.

A cold front will move through North Carolina early next week bringing the chance for a few showers Monday. Behind that front, it may feel more like State Fair weather. Morning lows should drop to the upper 40s by Wednesday.
