STATEWIDE – North Carolina is one of five states that don’t provide additional state protections for pregnant or nursing employees.

A committee of the North Carolina Child Fatality Task Force hopes to determine how the state measures up against other states with public policies regarding workplace lactation accommodations.

On Wednesday, they approved moving forward with a study that will be conducted by the Duke Center for Child and Family Policy.

“Nobody should have to choose between their job and the health of their pregnancy, but too many women still face this possibility today,” said Mom’s Rising Campaign Director Tina Sherman.

There’s no timeline for the upcoming study yet.
