Hurricane Maria left Puerto Rico in great need and people from around the country are pitching in to help, including Panthers head coach Ron Rivera.

At around noon on Thursday, the Rivera family left a $50,000 donation on the crowdfunding charity site YouCaring.com. He then left a note on the website saying, “Thanks for organizing to help our families and friends in Puerto Rico. #BoricuaStrong”

The Coach made mention of the donation wearing a red Puerto Rico hat during the regularly scheduled Panthers press conference. According to the Panthers' website, Rivera's father and other family members are from the island that is now without power and clean running water. 

As of 3:30 p.m., donations reached $551,739. The goal of raising $900,000 isn’t far behind.  The crowdsource organizer and Red Ventures CEO, Ric Elias, said the priority is “to get funds quickly and then make sure they have the greatest possible impact on peoples’ lives.” The go
