RALEIGH -- The latest forecast for Maria has it tracking a little closer to the coast of the Carolinas than the previous forecast. This is a storm that still needs to be watched and taken seriously.

The various tropical forecast models are pretty much in line, so there is a high confidence on what this storm will do. But it would take only a slight variation to bring Maria closer to the coast of the Carolinas. Even with the latest forecast, the coast will still feel its impacts in the form of rough surf and high rip current risk as we get through the weekend and into the first half of the work week.

Meanwhile, Jose has pretty much dissipated off the New England coast, and Tropical Storm Lee has reformed out in the middle of the Atlantic and should not be a threat to land.
