Candid Critter Program to Track NC's Wildlife Over 3 Years

NORTH CAROLINA -- Officials are asking for your help tracking the state's wildlife. 

The Museum of Natural Sciences is encouraging families to be neighborhood scientits by handing out critter cams and wildlife kits. The cameras will be available soon as part of a research project that gives people a chance to track wildlife in their habitat, this will help researchers document species in the state. 

The Candid Critter Program uses cameras which are heat and motion activated so when a mammal goes by, it automaticall starts snapping photos of it. 

The cameras will be available in 7 libraries on the eastern coast of the state this December and then will expand to 21 libraries total next year. Officials with the program hope to cover 20,000 to 30,000 locations over a three year period.
