RALEIGH -- Students Against Violence Everywhere, or SAVE, held its youth-led summit on Saturday to promote violence prevention in schools.

The event trains students in effective ways to reduce violence in their communities.

"There is such an epidemic with bullying and crime and just like, not good things in general. So this really, if we can make a difference it would really be amazing,” said Anna Chataginer, a youth advisor.

Statistics given by the center for disease control and prevention show that 17 percent of high school students in 2013 reported taking a weapon to school.

Saturday's summit was aimed at educating the community and reducing those numbers.
