Raleigh—They have one community and one goal, victory over cancer.  It's no ordinary bike ride but rather one to remember those we've lost.  And it's that time of year where folks making plans to lace up their riding shoes for the 2019 "Victory Ride to Cure Cancer".  Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with Katie Sweet of The V Foundation for Cancer Research, for a look at the one-day charity cycling event.

Starting and finishing at NC State’s Centennial Campus on May 18th, 2019, the Victory Ride to Cure Cancer will offer 100, 60, and 30 mile distances like last year. But for the second ever event of it’s kind, this year they’re also adding a 10mile ride and virtual ride options for those wanting to take part inside.

The charity ride is still months away, but this week the V Foundation is hosting 3 community sign up events, aimed at raising awareness about their work, collecting funds, and getting people signed up for their special 1 day ride.

·         Wednesday, October 3: Wellness Wednesday, North Hills

·         Thursday, October 4: Music on the Porch, Chapel Hill

·         Friday, October 5: First Friday, Downtown Raleigh

Last  year’s ride helped raise more than $200,000 for breakthrough cancer research that benefited the Duke Cancer Institute, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Wake Forest Baptist Health Comprehensive Cancer Center.
