NORTH CAROLINA – November is National Healthy Skin Month, and while you may not realize it, some of your skincare habits may be doing more harm than good.

Dermatologists say your soap may smell great but it could cause some serious problems for your skin. Dr. William Sumner of Dermatology Group of the Carolinas warns that smoking and being in the sun can age the skin quickly, causing wrinkles.

Dr. Sumner says he sees six or seven cases of skin cancer every day he works. It’s why he says it’s important to be proactive with your skin and the sun.

“If you can protect yourself now to prevent that, it’s so important,” he says.

In addition, some of the worst cases of eczema are on the hands because they are washed more than anywhere else.
