ORLANDO, Fla. -- The cantina that will be the central watering hole for Walt Disney World's planned Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge section now has a name, and a backstory.

  • Oga's Cantina will feature exotic drinks for adults and kids
  • RX-24, the original Star Wars pilot, will be the DJ
  • Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens in 2019

Disney announced Thursday that the watering hole the travelers, smugglers and bountyhunters of Black Spire Outpost will be called "Oga's Cantina."

Oga Garra is an alien proprietor who runs the cantina with a strict code of conduct to keep patrons in check.

Disney says the establishment regularly attracts "the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. And you never know when a stormtrooper or a familiar face will show up."

The entertainment at Oga's Cantina will be supplied by RX-24, better known as Captain Rex, the pilot of the StarSpeeder 3000 in the original Star Tours attraction. He has gotten a new job as the cantina's DJ.

Disney says the cantina will also feature concoctions created with "exotic ingredients using 'otherworldly' methods," for kids and adults.

The cantina and Black Spire Outpost are located on the planet of Batuu, a stop between the Outer Rim and Wild Space. The outpost is Batuu's largest settlement.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is expected to open in late 2019 at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.
