DURHAM, N.C. -- Not all is lost for the Triangle this week on the ACC gridiron. No postponement for the Duke Blue Devils who are in Texas this weekend to face the Baylor Bears as they look to improve to 3-0 on the season. Duke is coming off an impressive road victory at Northwestern last weekend but it came with a cost losing their starting quarterback Daniel Jones and their pre-season All-ACC corner back Mark Gilbert.

  • Jones is out indefinitely and Gilbert is done for the season
  • The Blue Devils will be playing with a heavy heart considering what is going on in their home state with the arrival of Hurricane Florence
  • If they defeat Baylor at high noon on Saturday, it will be the first time they accomplish that feat in 30 years

Jones is out indefinitely and Gilbert is done for the season. Quentin Harris will take over the snaps moving forward and the players are fully confident in the depth behind both positions moving forward. Linebacker Joe Giles-Harris says, "The guys stepping in are unbelievable and Quentin Harris is one of a kind, just like Daniel is one of kind, Quentin Harris is one of a kind. He brings his skill set to the game and I'm excited to watch him work. And on the defensive end, I think our secondary has some of the biggest freaks that I've seen in a long time at Duke. They're fast, they're athletic and they're strong guys and they love to play football."

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils will be playing with a heavy heart considering what is going on in their home state with the arrival of Hurricane Florence. Head Coach David Cutcliffe shared his thoughts on the ability for their team to still be able to play football on Saturday but their thoughts and prayers will surely be with their loved ones who remain home in North Carolina. Cutcliffe says, "I know this isn't the whole country but right now our thoughts are with the people that will be affected with this storm. We feel good about our plan to make sure they're all safe and sound back here. There's a lot of issues surrounding this type of circumstance."

Duke will be searching for their second consecutive 3-0 start to a season and if they defeat Baylor at high noon on Saturday, it will be the first time they accomplish that feat in 30 years.
