CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Wide receiver Torrey Smith may be new to the Carolina Panthers, but he is no stranger to Super Bowls.

  • Smith has won two Super Bowl titles with the Baltimore Ravens and the Philadelphia Eagles
  • The Panthers broke the Spartanburg portion of training camp on Monday
  • The Panthers host Miami in their second pre-season game Friday night

Smith has won two titles during his NFL career, first with Baltimore, and then this past February with the Philadelphia Eagles.

So, how does his new team stack up to those with championship aspirations?

"We have a shot, and that's all you can ask for," Smith told reporters after practice on Monday. "At this point, everyone believes they have a shot, but probably, only 20 teams really have a legit chance. I would say we stand on the other side of that."

The Panthers broke the Spartanburg portion of training camp on Monday, and now shift back to Charlotte to finish out the pre-season work. Work that must be done, if this version of the Panthers wants to deliver the Lombardi Trophy to their fans. As it is stands now, talk of a Super Bowl title is just that: talk.

"It doesn't matter if you don't go out there and do it on Sunday's when the season starts. We just have to continue to grind, and try to be the best team we can be," Smith said.

The Panthers host Miami in their second pre-season game Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and the game can be seen on Spectrum News.
