CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Jennifer King calls her coaching internship with the Carolina Panthers, “invaluable.”

  • As head coach of the women’s basketball team at Johnson & Wales University, King guided them to the USCAA Division II National Championship
  • King says everyone with the team has been welcoming and she’s even learned enough about the offense to offer pointers to the players
  • This experience with the Panthers has only made her want to pursue a career as an NFL football coach

It's certainly great experience for a woman hoping to make the jump to coaching football.

Championships seem to follow King wherever she goes. As head coach of the women’s basketball team at Johnson & Wales University, King guided them to the USCAA Division II National Championship.

Three weeks ago she helped the New York Sharks win the Women’s Football Alliance title. That’s right, King plays full contact football in her spare time.

Throughout her training with the Panthers in Spartanburg, she’s worked with the receivers.

King says everyone with the team has been welcoming and she’s even learned enough about the offense to offer pointers to the players.

The biggest thing she’s learned is how much preparation Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera and his staff go through.

King says, “There’s no room for error.” Reality will set in for King once training camp ends as she gets ready for another season at the helm of the JWU women’s basketball team.

However, this experience with the Panthers has only made her want to pursue a career as an NFL football coach.
