WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's basketball coach Danny Manning has had a summer that has been anything but relaxing.

Manning served as an assistant coach for Team USA's U-18 team that won gold in the FIBA U18 Americas Championship played in Canada.

Now, he has to use that knowledge to blend an essentially all-new roster together for the always challenging Atlantic Coast Conference season.

Manning has six new scholarship players, and needs to find a way to blend in that talent with what remains from last season's group. Five underclassmen from last year's squad, however, are gone.

"Obviously, an influx of new bodies, and we're excited about it," Manning said Monday. "The guys have come in, they're doing a good job of trying to grasp all the things we're putting them in. All the situations that we're putting them in. They're working hard, they're competing, and that's what you want at this point in time."

Wake Forest may be a young team, but they will be talented. Jaylen Hoard is the centerpiece of the new faces, and he is surrounded by forward Isaiah Mucius, and guards Sharone Wright, Jr. and Jamie Lewis. All three were rated as four-star recruits.
