CARY, N.C. -- Five of the areas top Divison I football coaches all gathered in Cary for the 16th Annual Bill Dooley Pigskin Preview.

Dave Doeren of NC State, Larry Fedora of UNC, Duke's David Cutcliffe, ECU's Scottie Montgomery and North Carolina Central Head Coach Granville Eastman took part in the event which raises funds for local high school student athletes.

  • The event raises funds for local high school student athletes.
  • The preview means football is just around the corner.
  • It's raised over $500,000 so far.

"It's unique you know, when you're in North Carolina and you have four ACC schools plus the other universities that play football, you don't have that in many places," said Doeren.

"I would imagine you don't see this in any other state in the country where you get all the coaches together and they have a little bit of fun up on stage," Fedora added. "You're rivals all year round, but it doesn't mean you can enjoy some time together."

Everyone involved also understands that with the Pigskin Preview, that means football is just around the corner.

"I love the way that it feels to go out and have to perform every single day so as far as pressure, you apply it, we're going to apply a lot of pressure to our guys and our program this year to make sure we're where we need to be at the end of the year," Montgomery stressed.

Granville Eastman is the new kid on the block. The first year NCCU head coach says he's already had some of his peers reach out and offer support.

"The experience around here has been great, not just this past year for me, but really over the last four years since I've been in the area to form up relationships with coach Fedora, coach Cutcliffe, coach Doeren, coach Montgomery they're very helpful and supportive."

To date the event has raised over $500,000.
