The Twin City say 1.79 inches of rain fell Monday as construction crews are trying to finish preparations for closing the highway.

However, officials say the forecast is calling for five more days of sunshine, which should help with preparations.

The mile-long segment of the interstate is scheduled to close at 6 a.m. Saturday for the rebuilding the roadway and bridges.

Business 40 is expected to reopen in 2020.
