NORTH CAROLINA -- Friday's cold front continues to march east, leaving the area and allowing for high pressure to build in. Skies will continue to clear through the morning making way for a bright midday and afternoon setting. Winds will be noticeable throughout the day. Expect five to 15 mph winds coming out of the northwest. Some wind gusts may be as high as 25 mph.

  • Freeze warning goes into effect for much of North Carolina at 10 PM Saturday
  • Veteran's Day will be dry with below average temperatures
  • Rain returns Monday afternoon with new storm system arriving from our southwest

This afternoon expect sunny skies and highs peaking in the low to mid 50s for many. With breezy winds, it will feel cooler than what the actual temperature may read. Skies will will remain clear tonight as cool, dry air continues to filter into the area. Lows will likely drop below average for many into the upper 20s to low 30s. A Freeze Warning will go into effect for The Triad, Triangle and Sandhills area from 10 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday.

High pressure will sit over the region Sunday keeping conditions dry through Verteran's Day. Temperatures will remain below average with expected highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.

As the area of high pressure exits the region late Sunday, the door will open for our next storm system to arrive from the Gulf. This system will likely bring the return of scattered to numerous showers to the area Monday afternoon and much of Tuesday. A few thunderstorms will likely be included but severe weather isn't a huge concern at this time. 

Behind our early workweek storm system, expect another temperature drop. Highs will fall into the mid 40s Wednesday with lows potentially down into the mid to upper 20s.
