FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. -- For the first time in 16 years, there's a new sheriff in Forsyth County.

Democrat Bobby Kimbrough beat incumbent Republican Sheriff Bill Schatzman Tuesday.

Kimbrough won with 53 percent of the vote.

Forsyth County will join Guilford and Wake Counties in the list of upsets for the sheriff's race.

Kimbrough took to Facebook Tuesday night to thank those who voted for him. As did Schatzman saying, "Well, the campaign is over and let me congratulate Mr. Kimbrough on his victory. I and my staff will do everything we can to help make a smooth transition."

Kimbrough will take office in January.
