The school they donated funds to last year in Humble, Texas after Hurricane Harvey returned the favor.

Oaks Elementary in the Humble Independent School District sent boxes full of school supplies, clothing, cards, and gift cards to Oaks Road Elementary school. The schools made a connection after Hurricane Harvey last year because they share similar names and their mascots are both owls.

The gift card donations totaled $14,000. Dewd the Down East Wood Duck also made an appearance to donate an additional $1,000 to the school.

"Our school had about 125 families that were displaced from the storm," said Eleanor Patrick, principal of Oaks Road Academy. "And our kids have lost everything from their book bags to their clothing and so every little bit helps.

The school shared the assembly on Facebook Live so their sister school in Texas could be there, too.
