NORTH CAROLINA -- High pressure is moving out of the area and we're already seeing changes with our weather.

  • Expect partly sunny skies as temperatures warm to a mild setting in the 60s and 70s this afternoon
  • A few light showers will be possible through the entire day
  • Tonight clouds will hang around as we drop to a low near 60 degrees

After a bright and beautiful Saturday, clouds have quickly overtaken our skies as high pressure shifts east. The cloud cover and a few light showers are a sign of things to come. We have a new storm system on the way that will work its way through the area Tuesday, bringing rain to much of the state.

Expect partly sunny skies as temperatures warm to a mild setting in the 60s and 70s this afternoon. A few light showers will be possible through the entire day so keep an umbrella close. Rain coverage isn't too impressive but it's enough to make sure you have something to cover yourself.

Tonight clouds will hang around as we drop to a low near 60 degrees. Overnight, a warm front will lift north through the state and this will set the stage for a big warm up Monday. Expect highs ranging from the upper 70s to mid 80s Monday afternoon. Skies will continue to be more cloudy and sunny as we await an approaching cold front. This front will slide through Tuesday and early Wednesday day, producing scattered showers and a few storms.

Behind the front we'll deal with a cool slot of air that will force afternoon highs into the low to mid 60s Thursday.
