NORTH CAROLINA -- Gov. Roy Cooper says at least one person is dead as Tropical Storm Michael moves through the state.

He says a tree fell on top of a driver's car. Emergency officials say to be aware of possible falling trees and potential flooding.

During a briefing, officials with the NC Department of Transportation confirmed that 75 main roads in North Carolina are closed with many of them in the Boone area.

 

 

They are urging drivers to never drive around barricaded roads.
