  • The money will go to farmers, fisheries, and restaurants in Eastern North Carolina recovering from the storm
  • Sunday Supper is planning a follow-up benefit for Florence victims for Nov. 11

Sunday Supper's benefit dinner raised more than $175,000 for Florence relief. The non-profit organization says that money will go to farmers, fisheries, and restaurants in Eastern North Carolina recovering from the storm.

"Those industries are at the core of what North Carolina is," said Sunday Supper board chair Willa Kane. "I've known they can cook, and now I know they can care."

The chefs said they jumped at the chance to use their skills to help North Carolina's agriculture bounce back after Florence.

"We need to support those folks and make sure that we can continue to have fresh seafood coming off of the coast for our economy," said Jake Wood of 18 Seaboard. "It's like any of our neighbors. They're our people, this is our home state, and it's our duty to step up and do what needs to be done."

More than 500 people attended the event.
