GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Authorities have recovered the body believed to be that of Wayne Thomas Williams, who went missing from his boat Tuesday morning.

Wayne Thomas Williams' disappearance was reported Tuesday. Officials say a caller reported that the 74-year-old man fell off his boat. The Greensboro Fire Department asked the Charlotte Fire Department for assistance using sonar technology and their dive teams.

According to authorities, Williams worked at the marina but was not working at the time of his disappearance. Williams' fishing boat was found with his dog on board. Some clothing was also recovered.

The City of Greensboro is planning on closing Lake Townsend marina until Saturday morning out of respect to Williams' family.
