NEW YORK - President Donald Trump was briefly interrupted by laughter while addressing the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday.

It came after the commander in chief said the American economy is booming like never before.

"In less than two years my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country," said Trump. "America's so true...didn't expect that reaction but it's ok."

The president took a more serious tone when discussing Iranian leadership, accusing the regime of fueling and financing the humanitarian crisis in Syria.

"Iran's leaders sow chaos, death, and destruction. They do not respect their neighbors or borders, or the sovereign rights of nations. Instead, Iran's leaders plunder the nation's resources to enrich themselves and spread mayhem across the Middle East and far beyond," Trump said.

President Trump also asserted American freedom, rejecting ideas of "global governance, control and domination."

He says the United States will never tell other nations how to live, work or worship - but says the U.S. expects other nations to "honor America's sovereignty in return."

He also touted progress made on border security and denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.
