MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- A Myrtle Beach business is going above and beyond to help evacuees.

  • Midtown Inn & Cottages is housing Florence evacuees for free.
  • Nearly 350 evacuees are currently there, more than 100 of them are children.
  • The owners praised the community for coming together to help.

Midtown Inn & Cottages is letting people stranded by Florence stay there for free.

Owner, Jaret Hicks, tells us around 350 evacuees are staying at the hotel, and more than 100 of them are children.

Hicks says the experience has been a great community effort, with A&A Produce donating most of the food and high school volunteers helping out.

Rooms are opening up as people are returning home and finding other places to stay.

If you, or someone you know, has been displaced by Florence and need a place to stay you can reach them at 843-448-6942.
