WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Our Sunday weather is pretty quiet around the region with a partly cloudy sky and highs in the 80s.

  • An isolated shower or storm is possible but most of us will remain dry
  • The Cape Fear River in Wilmington is cresting in flood territory today with the high tide cycles
  • As an easterly flow gets established, shower and storm chances will be a bit higher tomorrow and Tuesday

An isolated shower or storm is possible but most of us will remain dry.

The Cape Fear River in Wilmington is cresting in flood territory today with the high tide cycles and that could continue to be a problem over the next couple of days. During high tide, water is likely to cover Water Street in downtown Wilmington south of Market Street, and US 421 near the Battleship could get water-covered as well.

As an easterly flow gets established, shower and storm chances will be a bit higher tomorrow and Tuesday.

Eventually, later in the week, a cold front will being good shower and storm chances to the region Thursday and Friday. At this point, the upcoming weekend looks pretty nice.

Tropics...

Kirk is in the far eastern Atlantic and will likely remain fairly weak. The system could be in the eastern Caribbean by mid-week.
