GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The official start of fall occurs at 9:54 p.m. Saturday evening.

  • A strong cold front will sweep across the region
  • A few areas of rain and storms will be possible late Saturday evening
  • Another cold front will approach the region by later in the week

That said, a strong cold front will sweep across the region shortly after and bring a nice taste of fall temperatures to the region for Sunday. A few areas of rain and storms will be possible late Saturday evening.  However, most will occur north of I-40 and along the Virginia border.

Clouds and much cooler weather will impact central North Carolina the next several days. Spotty showers will be possible from time to time, but no widespread areas of rain are expected.

Seasonable weather should settle in for the middle part of the upcoming work week.  Another cold front will approach the region by later in the week.  That should bring an even bigger cool down to the region by next weekend.
