LEGGETT, N.C. -- Three people have now been arrested in the murder of Leggett mayor Gary Skelton and his wife Jackie.

  • Three people have now been arrested after the mayor of Leggett and his wife were found murdered Friday.
  • Two of the arrested have been charged with murder.
  • One person was charged with robbery.

Keith Earl Williams, 25, of Tarboro was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder.

Later on Friday, detectives also charged Mitchell Brinson, 18, of Tarboro with first-degree murder.

A third arrest made Saturday charged Dakeithia Nesha Andrews with conspiracy robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

 

 

 Additionally, the Sheriff's office released a statement saying:

"Sheriff Atkinson wants to assure the citizens that the investigation has revealed this to be an isolated incident and that there is no further danger to the public from the suspects."
