NORTH CAROLINA -- The Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will have a change of venue in 2021.

ACC Commissioner John Swofford says the league’s 15-member institutions decided the tournament will be held at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. in 2021. The following year, the game will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Until then, the tournament is set to stay in the Tar Heel State at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte and in Greensboro at the coliseum.

The commissioner is comfortable with moving the tournament around after spending the next two years in its original home state.

“The next four years of the ACC Tournament will be played in locations that are tremendously meaningful to the ACC, our players, coaches, alumni and fans,” said Swofford. “All four cities offer first class venues and hospitality for our league, and we appreciate the continued partnership with each of these outstanding communities.”

Since 2000, the tournament has been on a rotation, being hosted in Greensboro, Charlotte, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Brooklyn and Tampa.  It has been held in eight different cities since the inaugural tournament in March of 1954.
