WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- One of two women accused of giving three young children what appears to be marijuana in a social media video, appeared in court Wednesday.

  • Both women are charged with three counts of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily harm and three counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
  • The prosecutor said the state is still waiting on more evidence, medical reports and confirmation that the substance in the video was in fact marijuana.
  • The prosecutor also said that the state will most likely not pursue the felony charges.

Both women are charged with three counts of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily harm and three counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Michaela Pearson and Candice Little appeared in Forsyth County Court last week where their bonds were lowered from $150,000 to $100,000.

Pearson appeared in court again Wednesday, where a court appointed attorney asked for the bond to be lowered again. However, the judge did not grant that request.

During the appearance, the prosecutor said the state is still waiting on more evidence, medical reports and confirmation that the substance in the video was in fact marijuana.

The prosecutor also said that the state will most likely not pursue the felony charges but they will keep them attached to the case until they receive all of the evidence and medical reports.

Pearson will be back in court on unrelated misdemeanor charges on Sept. 13 and on Nov. 1.

Little will also be back in court for this case on Sept. 13.
