ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- The man responsible for killing and dismembering the body of his sister's boyfriend in 2013 was found guilty in Onslow County Thursday.

  • Carelton Davis was found guilty of murder Thursday.
  • Davis killed and dismembered Sheldon Prowl in 2013.
  • He will spend the next 38 to 48 years in prison.

Carelton Davis, 38, will spend the next 38 to 48 years in prison for the murder of Sheldon Prowl.

Prowl was last seen on Halloween of 2013 and reported missing in early November. His body was found in pieces in Detroit, Michigan in May 2014.

Davis' trial lasted two weeks and jurors deliberated for about six hours before finding him guilty of second-degree murder and concealment of a death.

After the verdict was read, Prowl's mother was given a chance to speak. Davis appeared to show no remorse.
