LEXINGTON, N.C. -- A water main break has shut down down U.S. Highway 64 near Lexington in both directions.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday near N.C. Highway 109.

Detours are in place to move drivers around the break while crews work to fix it.

Water crews have already fixed the pipe itself, now the DOT will work to repair the road.

Officials say the highway will likely be closed down all day.
