CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Just ahead of a football game planned for later this week, Chapel Hill High School announced Monday that it is canceling its varsity football program for the time being.

  • Chapel Hill High School will not have a varsity football team this year.
  • The school cites low player turnout in needed grade-levels for the cancellation.
  • The school's JV team will play as usual.

The school cites a low turn out of players at the upper grade levels as the reason for the cancellation.

The school's junior varsity football program will continue as usual this season.
