BURLINGTON, N.C. -- When two men blew a tire on the interstate this morning, their solution was to steal someone else's.

A tenant at Woodspring Apartments in Burlington tipped off police when they saw two men jump a fence and break into a car in the parking lot.

Officers caught up with the getaway vehicle the caller described and found two men in the back of the truck along with a rim and tire, tire iron, and jack.

The men confessed they had damaged their own tire and stolen a matching one to replace it.
