GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The dry weather's having an impact on some crops this year.

  • Parts of Guilford County have only seen three-tenths of an inch of rain since the first of June
  • Crops like squash and zucchini are suffering from the lack of rain despite irrigation
  • The lack of rain with irrigation is good for some crops like tomatoes

Parts of Guilford County have only seen three-tenths of an inch of rain since the first of June.

The Keenan family sells produce at their farm on the outskirts of Greensboro, and crops like squash and zucchini are suffering from the lack of rain despite irrigation.

"We normally have an abundance of beans this time of year, and they're pretty much non-existent," said James Kenan of Bernie’s Berries and Produce.

Kenan says that the lack of rain with irrigation is good for some crops like tomatoes.

He says the operation's seeing a bumper crop this year.
