ASHEBORO, N.C. -- A business owner says a man impersonating a Drug Enforcement Administration agent walked out with more than $800 worth of products from his store.

  • Police identified the suspect as Trevor Aaron Holmes
  • Shop owner says he demanded containers of hemp 
  • Police say they have had encounters with the suspect multiple times

Abe Youssef, owner of Smoke House Tobacco and Vape, says the man came in Saturday demanding an employee hand over multiple containers of hemp flower for confiscation.

Though the employee tried to called the owner, the thief threatened him to end the call. The phony agent got away before the owner could get to the shop. When Youssef showed the Asheboro Police Department the survellance video, officers recognized him right away.

Police have identified the suspect as Trevor Aaron Holmes. They say he had at least two encounters with police in the last couple of weeks.

He’s charged with obtaining property by false pretense, possesion of stolen goods and impersonating a law enforcement officer.

The shop owner says he’ll be cooperating to help prosecute Holmes.
